Sinner has given a bit of insight into hos struggles on court today.

Here’s what he had to say to Jim Courier after the match.

“It was for sure very, very tough. I knew in my mind that also he [Rune] had some very long matches before this one, so I tried to stay there mentally,” Sinner said.

“I just tried to stay connected with my service game and in return game see what happens…I really needed you guys [crowd] today, so it’s 90 per cent yours, and 10 per cent I tried to make you happy.”

“Today this morning was a very strange morning because I didn’t even warm up today, so trying to go on court as fit as I could…I knew in my mind already before the match that I would struggle today.”
