Despite the names involved in the project, Azaad falls from the expectations, and opened under Rs 2 crore, even lower than Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency.

Aaman Devgn, Rasha Thadani in Azaad

Azaad box office collection day 1: Ajay Devgn’s nephew Aaman Devgan and Raveena Tandon’s daughter Rasha Thadani’s debut film Azaad is among the anticipated releases of January 2025. The film opened in cinemas on January 17 to mixed reviews and word of mouth.

The early estimate of the first day is out, and as per the data, the film has opened on a dull note. As trade portal Sacnilk reported, Azaad opened with only Rs 1.60 crores. Despite the big names, including Ajay Devgn, Raveena Tandon, Anil Thadani, and director Abhishek Kapoor; the film couldn’t even cross Rs 2 crore opening. Azaad fetched a lower opening than Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency. The actress’ directorial earned Rs 2.39 crore, and it’s currently leading the box office race.

Another factor that has worked against Azaad is the film opened on Cinema Day, where the tickets were available at slashed rates. Despite the cheap ticket prices, Azaad couldn’t reap the benefit of Cinema Day. Going with the trend, Azaad will have to show a miraculous jump for a decent weekend.

Azaad is directed by Abhishek Kapoor (Rock On, Kai Po Che, Kedarnath), and it marks the debut of Aaman and Rasha. Ajay Devgn also makes a special appearance.

Rasha Thadani on her parents’ reactions to Uyi Amma

Recently, Rasha shared her parents’, Raveena Tandon and Anil Thadani, reaction to Uyi Amma, and said that she doesn’t get much of a reaction from them. The star kid stated that her parents emphasise the importance of humility and staying grounded. “Yes, my mom is very happy. She’s encouraging me to always do better but I don’t get that much of a reaction from my parents because they emphasise on staying humble and grounded. If you get so much love from your family, there could be a sway and any human would get high on the love. So, they’re very controlled and I’m very thankful for that, so I feel much more secure and grounded because of that,” she told the Times Of India.
