Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor have shared the screen in iconic Bollywood films like Parinda (1989) and Welcome (2007). During the promotions of his recent film Vanvaas, which released in December 2024, Nana had a casual chat with his friend and co-star Anil in a special segment called Legends Unplugged.
Nana Explains Why He Avoids Bollywood Parties
During their chat, Anil Kapoor asked Nana Patekar why he avoids Bollywood parties. Nana explained that he prefers to enjoy a drink at home rather than attending gatherings where unpleasant people often create unnecessary drama. He added that such situations can lead to arguments, and he isn’t someone who would tolerate disrespect.Nana Addresses His ‘Anger Issues
Anil Kapoor then asked Nana Patekar when his anger issues started. Nana clarified that it’s not about anger but about standing up to someone who misbehaves. Anil suggested that not every situation requires a physical reaction and that people can be reasoned with. Nana responded that reasoning only works if the other person is sober, but when someone is completely drunk, there’s no point in trying to explain things calmly.

Anil Suggests Nana Change His Image
Anil Kapoor, 68, mentioned that directors are hesitant to work with Nana Patekar because of his reputation for being short-tempered. He advised Nana to change this perception, insisting that he isn’t actually like that. However, Nana, 74, responded by saying that at this stage in life, changing himself is no longer an option.
